SACRAMENTO, Calif.  — The top tech-savvy community colleges in the country have been named by the Center for Digital Education.

The annual Digital Community Colleges Survey identified colleges that provide a high level of service to their students and faculty through information technology.

 Schools were placed in three categories based on enrollment during the 2007 school year. The survey examined various areas of technology such as online admissions, student access to transcripts and grades, information security and infrastructure, weather and campus security alerts and online library capabilities. It also examined how colleges are deploying technology to streamline operations and better serve students, faculty and staff.

The first place winners in each of the three categories are:

• Montgomery County Community College, Blue Bell, Pa. (7,500 or more students)
• Laramie County Community College, Cheyenne, Wyo.  (3,000 - 7,500 students)
• Carl Sandburg College, Galesburg, Ill. (fewer than than 3,000 students)

Following are the top 10 colleges in each category:

Large colleges (7,500 students or more):
