A list of college officials recently appointed to administrative and leadership positions
- Anne Arundel Community College in Maryland has appointed Kelly A. Koermer as dean of the School of Business, Computing and Technical Studies. The dean provides leadership and direction for the school’s instructional departments of architecture and interior design, business administration, business management, computer technologies, economics, engineering, the Entrepreneurial Studies Institute, homeland security and Criminal Justice Institute, and the Legal Studies Institute. Koermer earned a law degree in 1995 from the University of Baltimore School of Law and a bachelor of science degree in paralegal studies from Villa Julie College in 1990.
- Connecting Georgia Perimeter College students with civic engagement service opportunities both locally and globally has been a part of the college’s academic curriculum in several disciplines. Now the college has created an Office of Civic Engagement to highlight and strengthen ways to connect all students’ academic experience with the community. To that end, the college has hired Deborah Gonzalez as associate vice president for academic affairs, civic engagement and service learning. Gonzalez holds a juris doctor degree from New York Law School and is former assistant director of the University of Georgia’s Office of International Public Service and Outreach.
- A manager with 24 years of experience in information technology has been appointed chief information officer at New Jersey’s Camden County College. Darrell B. McMillon is now overseeing all of the college’s technology and related services that support student learning, administrative processes, community service and communications. McMillon most recently was a chief information officer with SunGard Higher Education Managed Services of Malvern, Pa.
Tarrant County (Texas) College has named Tiffany Lopez as director of continuing education for its new Trinity River Campus in downtown Fort Worth. Formerly coordinator of the Client Intervention Program for United Community Centers Inc., Lopez also has served as coordinator of student services at the University of North Texas Health Science Center. Additionally, she has been a Tarrant County College instructor, counselor and instructional associate. Lopez has a master of science in psychology from Walden University in Baltimore and earned her bachelor of science in exercise science with a minor in sports medicine from The University of Texas at Arlington. She has served as treasurer and vice president for Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and secretary of the Adult Basic Education Literacy Coalition.
- Brett Campbell has been named associate vice president for operations and special initiatives at Tulsa Community College in Oklahoma. Campbell holds a bachelor of arts from the University of Oklahoma, a master of science and an education doctoral degree from Oklahoma State University. He has previously served as the associate vice president for student affairs at TCC and the dean of student affairs at Rogers State University in Oklahoma. He currently serves on the national board for the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators.
